The Kips Bay Decorator Show House 2024 has once again proven to be a cornerstone event in the luxury design community, showcasing exceptional talent while raising critical funds for a worthy cause. This year, as part of Dallas Design Week, designers from across the country came together to transform a stunning Dallas residence into a veritable gallery of innovation and creativity, all while supporting the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club. We were delighted to be involved, designing the lighting for the terrace by Lambert Design, creating the ultimate outdoor destination for hosting.

A Purposeful Mission

Founded in 1973, the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club has a long-standing commitment to providing underprivileged youth with the resources and support they need to thrive. Through programs in education, arts, sports, and leadership, the club serves thousands of children annually. The funds raised from the Decorator Show House directly support these initiatives, enabling the club to continue its vital work in the community.

Designer Highlights

This year, one of the standout designs above was an innovative and inviting pair of ‘His and Hers’ powder rooms that showcased a clever use of stone and textured wallpaper, all from the clever mind of Tiffany Woodson and her team at Ink+Oro. The combination created a luxurious and warm environment, where every detail invited exploration. The interplay between the smooth stone surfaces and the rich textures of the wallpaper brought depth and character, making it a memorable experience for all who visited.

Traci Connell’s design of the Cigar Lounge below was a particular highlight, showcasing her clever approach to lighting details. By incorporating adjustable sconces and strategically placed floor lamps, Traci created a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance perfect for relaxed conversations. The deep, rich colors of the room were beautifully enhanced by warm lighting, highlighting the luxurious textures and inviting visitors to settle in and enjoy the space.

Sherry Haslip’s room embraced a very traditional styling and was especially poignant, serving as a tribute to her husband’s work as the original architect of the building at 2999 Turtle Creek. With rich wood tones, intricate moldings, and plush upholstery, her space paid homage to timeless aesthetics and her husband’s legacy. Sherry expertly blended vintage furnishings with a carefully selected chandelier, creating a harmonious environment that felt both nostalgic and fresh. The lighting was carefully curated to enhance the room’s traditional elements, casting a warm glow that invited guests to appreciate the craftsmanship and detail. (See two below)

A Collaborative Effort

This year, the collective ingenuity was evident in every room, with each designer bringing their unique perspective and style. From contemporary minimalism to lush maximalism, the variety of designs celebrated the rich tapestry of the design world.

In addition to the stunning designs, the event featured various community engagement activities, including guided tours and workshops. These opportunities allowed visitors to connect with the designers, learn about their processes, and gain insight into the latest trends in interior design. The atmosphere was electric, filled with conversations about creativity, innovation, and the role of design in enhancing our lives.
